9. When I told Isabel that Dad was picking up tortillas on his way home, she responded with a dramatic eye roll, followed by "Why do we always have to have tortillas?!"
8. Leaving for church at 11:15am and getting home at 4:00pm is beginning to feel normal!
7. Isabel: It's crowded in here!
Mom: Welcome to Mexico, Isabel!
Isabel: This is taking forever!
Mom: Welcome to Mexico, Isabel!
6. We are not hungry to eat lunch (or "comida") until about 3:00pm. Of course, we still "snack" at around noon.
5. I asked Shawn to pick up garlic and cilantro from the market, and he came back with those ingredients and a small bag of live bugs, saying they were for salsa, too - what? ugh! Needless to say, they did NOT make it in!
4. Our favorite family outing is going to the "mercado", or market!
3. Since, Shawn has "morphed" into his Mexican self, I now only flinch 1 or 2 times when he is driving.
2. Isaac's screeching is just as embarrassing cross-culturally as in the US!
1. When I dropped something the other day, I actually thought to myself, "Chihuahua!" (as opposed to dang or something of the equivilant)!

Susan, I love it! Yes, you are definitely enculturating, and it sounds like with grace...how wonderful. Adios amiga! After you get the Spanish down, we will work on Russian, okay, ma-ya pa-droo-ga (my friend)! Miss you, but excited for you!
Sooo funny! I love it! "Enculturating" with kids is much more interesting than just with us adults :) Hope you are doing well, despite all the challenges and adjustments. Wish you could send some of that salsa our way--I was just thinking I need to figure out how to make some here.
Love,
Erica
